Ellie Goulding – How to fix the broken planet?

How to fix the broken planet?

Climate change warrior?

Famous pop star?

Outspoken feminist?

UK Hottest Vegetarian in 2015?

Grammy- nominated artist?

The ambassador of the homeless in London?

Yes, it’s Ellie Goulding – on the board of the mentioned concepts and missions.

She is full of dreams, love and hope about the future but Ellie is full of anger, wonder, worries and anxiety, too.

According to her the future generations shouldn’t have to inherit a broken planet because the previous generations didn’t take the opportunity to fix it.

Ellie Goulding would like people to choose hope and love in the battle for the climate change.

I really need to just write a bloody good pop song after meeting climate scientists, or going to the climate assembly in Kenya.

Going to Greenland and seeing glaciers collapse. It’s gone beyond facts and boring data – we’re seeing it with our own eyes.

The wildfires in California were exacerbated by climate change, the crazy storms that have been happening: it’s very obvious.

Ellie Goulding’s work as an artist is responsible, too.

Ellie is using recycled materials for album’s biodegradable packaging, thinking about green and carbon neutral and reducing tour logistics.

“If I said I’m just here to sing and have a good time… it’s the equivalent of saying ‘I’m just not into politics.’

You are into politics; everything in your life depends on it.

There are people who have a bigger platform who perhaps don’t use it.

I think that’s something that may need to be pushed a bit.”

Her songs don’t push people necessarily to think as her but more asking questions about the world.

What are the answers of these hot questions?

To create carbon tax, to eliminate homelessness by providing housing, to think about creating green aircraft running on solar power or electricity.

Since I started publicly pushing for action on climate and nature, there’s been a revolution led by Greta Thunberg and  “The Fridays for Future” movement.

My hope comes from the strength of the movement and the direction we’re all moving in, such as pushing leaders to switch from fossil fuels to green energy.

For me, the best way to contribute is to keep telling the hopeful stories about how we want our future to look.”

Sometimes Goulding is asking herself is it ok to tell the world leader what should they do about climate emissions

or to speak about protecting our lovely planet?

The answer is simple

you have to do it in the name of love of the planet:

A love of nature is also known as biophilia (the name of an album by my musical hero, Björk, and a book by biologist EO Wilson).

Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau pioneered underwater filming so he could bring the ocean ecosystem he loved to cinemas.

His aim wasn’t just to entertain, but to also trigger an impulse in us to conserve.

He reasoned, “How can you protect what you do not love?”

So if you fell in love with nature this spring, during lockdown’s famous ‘nature pause’, now you need to fight to protect it”.

Lets hope more of us will protect our nature with love 🙂
