The forever #joyfull Tracee Ellis Ross
Bold style and extravagant presence – this is how we can describe Tracee Ellis Ross. She is no stranger to the spotlight – a popular actress with Golden Globe, ten million followers on Instagram and her own brand for curly hair – Pattern. And as you probably guessed – she is the daughter of the superstar Diana Ross.
Holy pandemic
âWhat Iâve realized during this pandemic is that my entire home is my meditation spaceâ – says Tracee Ellis Ross. Her motto before the quarantine was âWork hard and take care of yourselfâ. These days she decided to switch to âBe easy, be gentle and be joyfulâ. She is a big believer in self-care. One of the ways she nourishes her soul is to live her life joyfully – nightâs rose bath, minimum one or maximum three face masks for 24 hours, beauty nap, virtual sessions of the Tracy Andersonâs method, Christian Louboutin high heels or comfortable Birkenstock slippers⊠And not to allow the fear of getting older to disturb her:
âWhat I know is I have only gotten better with age. I think I’m the sexiest I’ve ever been, and I’m almost 50. And I think of the other women who are in this age bracket and beyond, and I think, ‘why was there ever a message of counting us out?’ That seems absurd.â
My second skin
Tracee jokes that her second skin could be her favourite origami dress by Comme des Garcons or satin, lace or cotton robes. But why not a funny terrycloth, too? Yes, you can find it in her wardrobe. Clothing has always been an integral part of her identity, armour or barrier between her and the way people could misinterpret Tracee. Her clothing is a form of creative expression and it brings her immense joy. â I used to spend so much time trying to be perfect, to get it perfect. But thatâs not realistic. Bad feelings come up. There was an element of risk to try something different – to try on the idea of: What if the universe is conspiring for good? Not necessarily mine, but what if I donât have the full picture here? What if this is all OK? And that was the start of a turning point. If you keep putting good stuff in your cup, eventually it overflows. And youâll be like, âOh, I need a new container.ââ
Ode to the curly hair
The popular actress likes to say that her journey to self-acceptance can be chronicled through her journey with her hair. âMy hair has played a role throughout my life. I didnât understand it so I tried everything under the sun to make it do what I thought it shouldâ. Years later, believing that good hair days were right, not a happy coincidence, Tracee decided to develop her own curly hair brand âPatternâ. The first ideas for Pattern raised in 2008. It takes more than ten years to complete her concept because at that time the beauty industry didnât see the need to do anything for the âcurly societyâ. Nowadays the brand is very popular among curly goddess. âTalking the time to accept, understand and love my hair mirrors the relationship I have with myself. I have grown to love and appreciate my hair in all of its seasons. Because hair love is self -loveâ.
