Choosing the right shorts might be challenging

There are so many types of shorts for women that choosing the best one for you could often feel like an impossible challenge. Just like any other clothing item, some women’s shorts look good on certain body shapes, while others complement slightly different silhouettes.

Shorts for women according to body shape

Very often, the shorts models that are trending or those which we personally like, do not look as impressive once we put them on. Such a disaster-choice situation could play a bad joke on one’s self-esteem, while the real reason the garments could look odd is that they are simply not suited for everyone’s body type.

No wonder shopping for shorts is such a headache for so many ladies. After all, every woman wants to look good and feel confident in her outfit.

How to choose women’s shorts according to your body shape?

A shape

If your body is pear-shaped, also known as triangle-shaped or A-shaped, that means the lower portion of your body is wider. So in order to make your silhouette look more balanced and visually elongate your legs, choose slim-fitted shorts or exposed pockets shorts.

High-raise shorts in black or other dark colors look best on A-shaped bodies. These types of bottoms can show off your best features, complement your waist and make your body look slimmer. Make sure to avoid A-line and low-rise shorts in light colors. Stripe patterns are also a ‘no’ for pear bodies because they make the tights look even wider.

V shape

If you have an inverted triangle body shape, your goal should be to make your hip area look bigger. Make the most of your wide shoulders and small hips by choosing A-line or wide-leg shorts with a regular or high waist fit. Horizontal stripes are one of the best patterns to choose for this body type.

In light or white shorts women with V shape silhouettes feel the most confident. Avoid darker shades and tight-fit shorts. They are way too slimming and could have the opposite effect in accentuating your features.

O shape

Mid-rise Bermuda shorts work best for those with oval shape bodies, large busts, and no defined waistline. Another nice-looking fit is the denim shorts with exposed pockets. These types of shorts for women are designed to perfectly fit an apple-shaped body. They are making the tights look slimmer and creating an illusion of a more defined waist.

As for the don’ts, long shorts are not the best choice for women with an O-body. The same thing is valid for layered shorts and pleated shorts which also do not complement an oval body.

H shape

Rectangle or H-shaped bodies refer to women with almost identical upper and lower body proportions. Ladies with less curvy figures often opt to make their bodies look more hourglass or pear-shaped by using clothes that are creating a visual illusion. So when it comes to shorts for women, there are a few things to have in mind.

Graphic and patterned shorts with wide legs are the ideal outfit addition to make yourself look curvier. Colorful pleated shorts can also add volume to your hips and tights if this is what you are going for. The worst choices for this body type are certainly low-waist bottoms and shorts with vertical stripes.

X shape

This is probably the most desired body ratio for ladies. With tiny waists and evenly proportionated hips and shoulders, women with the X-shape have it easier when it comes to clothing choices. Almost all types of shorts suit women with an hourglass shape.

Mid or high-waisted black shorts for women are the ideal choices to look slimmer. Show off your curves with a tight and short denim fit or leather shorts. And to elongate the legs, choose neutral A-line shorts.

What else to consider?

Now that you know what shorts women with your body type look best in, it is time to talk about the other important factors to consider when choosing shorts for women. Those other factors are material, quality, and pattern.

Material

When we talk about clothing, women’s shorts, in particular, the material is a game-changer. Because even if you find the best shorts that look stunning on your body, that does not mean they are comfortable. If the pants are made of low-grade material that is too thin, see-through, highly sweat-absorbent, feels itchy, or irritates your skin, how do you plan on spending even an entire day wearing them?

Quality

No matter what type of shorts women want to buy, it is important to pay attention to the quality. Low-quality shorts can be recognized by the cheap rough-feeling materials and loose or irregular hems and seams. So our advice is, always look for high-quality clothes, made of durable and hypoallergenic materials, with nice and firm stitching. The last thing you want is the shorts to fall apart, tear or wear off after you put them on a few times.

Pattern

Patterns are powerful. They are able to completely change the way specific shorts look. For instance, even if your body looks amazing with a wide-leg fit, certain stripe patterns on the shorts could totally ruin the look by making your body look less proportionate. The same thing is valid for all shorts types and patterns.
